Honey and Simba aka Pooh's Update 8-29-2010
My husband and I adopted Honey and Simba (or as he's now known to us, Pooh) about a month ago and they are such a joy.
They are our first pets that we've had together and we call them our fur children. Honey spends a lot of time with my
husband; she sits on his lap under the table when we eat dinner, and she sits with him and avidly watches the tv with him
while he's playing PlayStation. Pooh is a talker and will meow at me when I talk to him. They both purr like crazy!
We
were originally going to only adopt Honey, but I convinced by husband to take them both and I'm so glad we did. They keep
each other company and love to play with each other. It is so entertaining to watch them sneak up on each other and jump
straight up in the air, then go running off at high speeds. We love spoiling them and taking photos of them!

Starbuck's Update 8-29-2010
Dear Lost Dog,
I just wanted to take a minute to thank you for all that you do!!! My husband and I adopted Starbuck, a 2 year old
terrier mix, one year ago this month! We were new to the area, didn't know anyone and certainly didn't plan on adopting
a dog when we ran into Petsmart that day! As soon as I saw him I was in love and knew that he had to come home with us!
Now, we can't imagine life without him and he made our transition to this new state so much easier!
He has bouts of
typical Terrier hyperactivity but also loves to spend time cuddled in bed and is a total momma's boy! :) Thank you
for bringing this little guy into our lives and for the countless animals you help save!!

Harper and Bailey aka Flower and Fiji's Update 8-29-2010
Harper and Bailey (aka Flower and Fiji of the Feb '10 F-Litter) are growing up so quickly! It’s hard to think that these big
goofy dogs were ever the 5lb puppies we picked up from Purcellville. They have both added so much fun, love and excitement to
our lives- we can’t imagine how boring our days must have been before they joined us. Our cat has adapted to them
fantastically and now fully believes that she is their mother.
Harper and Bailey are as smart and well natured as could be.
Their favorite things to do are chase tennis balls and bugs (especially crickets), swim in the bay, knock each other over
while they play and have cat-naps on the couch. Our favorite game to play is the breed-mix guessing game…. 7 months later
and we still have no clue!
Thank you, Lost Dog, for adding such wonderful dogs to our family.

Chubbs and Buster's Update 8-29-2010
Hi!
My wife and I adopted Chubbs about 6 weeks ago and adopted Buster (formerly Byron, a "special needs" puppy) the day after
Xmas. Just wanted to let you know that both are doing well and are already good buddies. Buster is just a wonderful,
sweet, good-natured dog, and Chubbs is playful, sharp, and a good kisser!
Baby Buster still can't see that well but he
gets around fine, and Chubbs is starting puppy school this weekend. I also have two large 9yr. old dogs and everyone is
finding their place in the pack.
I've attached a few pics.

Leni aka Sadie's Update 7-25-2010
Hi Lost Dog,
Just wanted to give you an update on Leni (formerly "Sadie".) I wasn't planning on adopting a dog but when I fostered her,
I instantly fell in love. She loves her big sister Nina (5yr old Katrina rescue) and enjoys play biting Nina's big pointy
ears. Leni has so much fun running laps in our back yard and chasing the birds. She also has the adorable habit of wiggling
her butt to one side when she gets really excited. Thank you so much for saving her...she is a perfect example of all the
sweet, loving dogs that need to be rescued and also what wonderful companions pitbulls and pitbull mixes can be. I don't
know what I would do without my brindle babies.
I have attached a picture of Leni (floppy ears) and Nina (pointy ears)
Thanks again for saving so many animals.

Phoebe's Update 7-25-2010

We wanted to give you an update on Phoebe, whom we adopted a year ago today!
During this last year, Phoebe has made amazing strides.
From the beginning,
she was a lover and couldn't stand to be away from us. However, she had a
lot of fears. She wouldn't take a walk, she was terrified of traffic noises,
cowered at the site of other dogs and outright refused to go in the backyard
without us. With a lot of patience and a wonderful experience in obedience
classes, Phoebe now loves to walk and run (some days we go 5 miles!) and she
loves to lay on the deck or in the yard and sun herself. She has made many
four-legged and two-legged friends in the neighborhood and looks forward to
meeting them on our daily walks.
Phoebe has completely settled into the
house, adopting a chair for herself and often believes she is just the right
lap dog size at 75 lbs! She is the sweetest dog, wonderful with the
children, fantastic with us and just an all around perfect dog. Thank you
Lost Dog Rescue for saving Phoebe so that she could be a part of our lives!
The work you do is truly a gift to all!

Janet and Banjo's Update 7-25-2010
I must tell you that I think the pair thing is very important. I would have adopted only one cat, even though I know getting
two is ideal. I am SO glad I recognized Annabel’s sweetness and gentle loving nature when I went out to Maryjon’s. Quite
before I knew it, I blurted out that I wanted to take her too. It was such a strong knowing when I said it. She has turned
out to be even MORE than I could have expected. She is the love bunny who sleeps on my bed right next to me and she is
the perfect playmate for Gracie too. They are great friends. What a sweeeet and gentle cat, and to think I would have
missed out had you not had her with Banjo. Banjo is affectionate and he likes to hang out where I am, but he’s a tad
more reserved than she is. He too is exactly perfect for me and he’s a cool cat. Just what I was looking for. They make
a perfect pair because they each have such wonderful qualities. When cats are shown together and when the idea gets across
to the prospective buyer that they are such friends, that buyer is likely to take two cats to a good home.
I hope you find good homes for the kittens and cats. I regret that I’m not 30 again so I could have years ahead of me
to have cats!

Cha Chi's Update 7-25-2010
I had ever intention of changing his name, but honestly, no other name would do! He has been with us since December 2009
(the first big snow storm!) and despite being stuffed into a dog carrier and brought in undercover to the grocery store
so we could get some food, he has adjusted perfectly.

He about goes out of his mind with excitement when we come home,
loves to snuggle under the blankets (even in this heat!) and is constantly rolling over to have his belly rubbed. I cannot
imagine a more perfect fit for me and our family. We have another adoptee from Lost Dog, Milo and love them something fierce!

Thank you for your tireless efforts on behalf of animals. Milo and Cha Chi are forever grateful, as are we. (and a huge
shout out to Cha Chi's foster mama, Diane G!.)

Ella aka Glimmer's Update 7-25-2010
I adopted my best friend, Ella in February of 1996. Her name was Glimmer then and we told my daughter she could rename her.
My daughter was 5 then, so Cinderella is her name now. We call her Ella. She is 8 yo now, we think. We got her when she was
6 months old. We took her to puppy obedience and she passed with flying colors although, if she hadn't fallen asleep for
the 5-minute "down and stay" I'm not so sure she would be a graduated. She's perfect in every way. Won't leave our yard,
very sweet tempered, loving and popular in the neighborhood. Anyone can walk up and pet her and everyone knows her.
Mutts are the smartest, after all.
She tore an ACL a few winters ago but she's fully repaired thanks to the use of titanium. The bionic dog. She seems
fully healed and I'm hoping she'll be around many more years to come. Me and my shadow.

Bill's Update 7-25-2010
Hello Lost Dog and Cat! You have our first LD&C dog, Ike, on the happy trails tales, as we adopted him from you 8 years ago.
Over the Memorial Day weekend, we took Ike to Falls Church Petsmart and Ike picked out "Waggers", who is now named BILL.
I'm attaching a great photo of him where he appears to be sticking out his tongue at me! Bill, with all the border collie
in him, is just like a light switch - with no dimmer function! He's either "on" and ready to chase balls, squirrels,
anything that moves, or he's "off" and so sound asleep that nothing wakes this dog! And, he spends much of his waking hours
herding our family, or at least trying to. He is one of the happiest dogs that we've ever had as well. Thanks so much for
everything you do!

Chloe's Update 6-30-2010
Chloe has been with us less than a week, but it feels like she has been with us forever. She and our 17-year old dog are getting
along fine. She is lovable, sweet and loves her walks. She is two years old, and has her moments of puppiness – tucking her tail
between her legs and runs around the house like the energizer bunny. We just laugh at her and you can tell she is very joyful
and happy. Our older dog tries to get in on the action, but at his energy level. Thanks for rescuing her and allowing us to
be the ones to give her a forever home.
Have a nice day!

Sasha's Update 6-30-2010
These days she is better known as Sasha-belle or Sassy and she is a very different dog from the one I met when I adopted her.
Slowly she came out of her shell and I can say with confidence that she now knows she this is her forever home.
This winter was brutal, but I quickly realized that Sassy must be part husky because this girl loves the snow! She was jumping
in and plowing through and had a blast. Although she does not seem to be fond of wearing clothes(to include her winter jacket)
- I often tell people that she gives me this look that says "human, I'm a dog and this is ridiculous, you're embarassing me,"
but she's a good sport and plays along anyway. In fact I feel like she has retrained me (in a good way) by giving me her "I'm a
dog, not a toddler, stop it" look when I start treating her too much like a child.
A few months ago we had to admit defeat and re-home her little brother Capote because of his severe separation anxiety. I thought
Sasha might be confused or upset by no longer having a canine companion, but I was totally wrong. She immediately took to being
the center of the universe and she has made this tough transition for me much easier. Now that she no longer has to be crated
during the day she enjoys laying on the couch and watching TV(she's a big Days of Our Lives and Ellen fan) while I'm at work
and it is not unusual for me to come home and find her with all four paws in the air, sprawled out and comfortable as can be
(please see photo of this pose).
Overall I feel truly lucky to have had the opportunity to adopt Sasha. I can't tell you how many people have commented on what
a good dog she is and how amazing it is to see such a fantastic dog come from a rescue. She is a great example of why we need
groups and people like you guys, because there are so many fantastic dogs like her that need a chance to shine. Sasha is shining
like the super star that she is :-)
Thank you for helping her get to me!
Have a nice day!

Boots aka Malachi's Update 6-30-2010
I’m very happy to tell you that Boots is doing great at our home. We actually renamed him Malachi, and he recognizes his
own name. He’s everything that we hoped for: loving, sweet, playful, and trusting. And we’ll make sure he’s living a happy and
comfortable life with us. I’m collecting photos of him so we can send you a happy tail story sometime soon.
Have a nice day!

Chin Chin's Update 6-13-2010
Hi there lost dog rescue!!
I wanted to send in some updates and photos about Chin Chin Erwin Fiesler! He officially came to live with me October 30th
of 2009 and since then has become the man of the house! When I first got him he was a little shy and didn't like the company
of other dogs too much. He now runs around with all this toys and loves to show off to EVERYONE. He loves the dog park and
loves doggie play dates with his best friend (bulldog) Maggie.
Chin has flown to Florida on an airplane with me two times
and didn't bark at all! We did discover he is not a huge fan of birds or ducks while we were down south (he took a swim in
the lake behind my house to chase them down); other than that he has become my perfect little co-pilot! We spent memorial day
in Atlantic City where he fell in love with two dogs, Lily and another Maggie. He was a little sad to leave them them to come
back home to Virginia; but a new toy got him back to normal! He truely has developed an amazing personality since coming to
live with me. I am so happy and lucky to have the little man in my life! Thanks so much for everything!

Buster's Update 6-13-2010
Hello!
2 weeks ago we adopted Buster the Beagle at the Leesburg, VA Petsmart adoption event. We just wanted to report how much we LOVE
having him as part of our family. We actually changed his name to Patch and he has already learned to respond to it. He is an
absolute joy to have around. His spunk keeps our other dog moving and his goofy personality makes us laugh and laugh! Patch
has already adjusted to our home and knows where his bed is and gets his toys out of the basket to play with when he feels like
chewing on something. Since he's a beagle, he keeps track of all the scents in our backyard and as a result, all those pesky
bunnies who were eating my flowers have now relocated!
Patch has especially loved our local dog park where he runs and jumps with the "big boys"! It doesn't matter if there's a
great dane or a pug, he chases them all and isn't afraid to get into the thick of it!
Patch is one smart dog and has already learned a few of our house rules (such as no dogs on the furniture and no dogs in the
kitchen during mealtime). Our dog, Molly has accepted him as part of our family and she even has started sharing her bed with
him on occasion. When Patch comes to greet me in the morning, I can't help but smile at his cuteness! We can't believe we've
only had him for two weeks because it feels like he's always been a part of our family. We are truly thankful that we found
Patch!

Monty and Dandy's Update 6-13-2010
After looking at several organizations, we found Dandy and instantly wanted to meet him. I contacted Brittany and she was so nice
and easy to work with that she set up a time for my fiance and I to meet him.? With paperwork completed we would be able to take
him same day if we decided. We decided to go to Petsmart in Leesburg one day prior to our appointment just to see him in person.
Unfortunately we went when there was no one there from LDCRF but we instantly fell in love with him through the glass.
And while looking at him we noticed Monty in the top kennel as well. We had hoped that he had a home because it was just the
two of them left in there. When we came back to meet Brittany and pick up Dandy we inquired about Monty's status as he was out
with her and immediately my fiance went over to him and started petting him. Monty actually headbutted my fiance and it was
love at first headbutt. Haha Anyways needless to say we came for one and left with two and about 200$ worth of stuff for them.
We brought them home and introduced them to my girls, two five pound yorkies. Once we did that and had gotten all four of them
used to each other, things are as pictured in this email. Dandy, I call him my shadow because every time I turn around he is
there. He actually is such a cuddler as he jumps up in my arms and wants me to kiss his head over and over and is my alarm
clock every morning at 5:30AM and yes I said everyday if only I could teach him that two of the seven were weekend days for
mommy and she doesn't need to be up that early. Anyways in our household full of kids there is never a dull moment.
They definitely can fight like cats and dogs but don't let them fool you they cozy up just fine together. As for now they
are all pretty happy and content.
Everyone who considers adopting one should think about adopting two if possible as they are so very good together. We love them!
Thanks LDCRF!!!

Bubs aka Bailey's Update 5-30-2010
Dear Lost Dog & Cat Rescue –
We adopted Bubs (previously known as Bailey, #13365) late last September 2009. HE IS AMAZING. Never
in my life have I encountered such a sweet, loving, playful, adorable animal. He has “guyliner” that
gives him permanent puppy-dog eyes, and a personality to match! He loves running around the dog park
and always plays with the biggest dogs there! He’s such a “little man” as we call him – proud and coming
into his own.
We can’t imagine our life without him now – and are so happy with our decision to adopt.
The only thing we regret is not finding him sooner.
Thank you for watching over him on his way to us!

Orson Welles aka Tommy's Update 5-30-2010
Hi. My name is Orson Welles but you remember me as Tommy. I was adopted on March 19th. When I left I was only 11 weeks old.
Now I am 20 weeks old! I am getting bigger and bigger everyday. I am also getting healthier and healthier everyday. I recently
discovered I DO NOT like getting my shots. The Vet suggested I have a low tolerance for pain. But I’m still very cute. People
think I’m part Terrier part stuffed animal.
I LOVE people, almost as much as I LOVE other dogs. I love my neighbors. There is
only a measly chain linked fence keeping me from them so one day, I climbed it! Much to my parent’s dismay. They have since made
the fence bigger, but lucky me, I’m still allowed to go next door and play. I really am the perfect fit for my parents! They
tell me everyday! I’m so glad they found me. But thanks for taking care of me until they did!
|
Ajax aka Butch's Update 5-30-2010
This big hound is settling in and getting along well with my 30-month-old Catahoula, Zoe. We’ll be
celebrating our first week together with a trip to the doggy bakery on Saturday.
He’s behaving like a true Southern gentleman. His initial reserve is melting away and he is turning out to be
a very playful and engaging dog.
If you’re thinking about adopting a hound, don’t be discouraged if he or she is slow to warm up. Once you’ve won
a hound’s trust, you’ll be amazed at the depth of the commitment.

Comet aka Neo and Tyler's Update 5-30-2010
Here are some photos of Comet (Neo) and Tyler. They almost look related.
There's also a photo of my son Eric and daughter Sarah with Comet. Thank
you again for bringing Comet to us - he is part of our family now!

Lilly's Update 5-10-2010
Lost Dog and Cat Rescue,
I adopted Lilly one month ago today, on a warm Saturday afternoon at the PetsMart in Fairlakes. When I first met her she
looked irresistably sweet in her 'Donation Dog' jacket- I'll never forget it! One of the first nights I spent with her, she
curled up right next to me while I was watching tv. She loves to cuddle and be close to people.
Lilly is a very smart, loyal
dog with a fun personality. She enjoys playing in the backyard by herself or with our 5 year old golden; they've really opened
up to each other! Everyone who has met Lilly has said what a sweetheart she is, even strangers at the dog park! She is such a
fun-loving, lovable and energectic dog and she has been such a wonderful addition to our home and family. Thank you all so much
for giving us the opportunity to meet and form such a special, life-long bond.
|
Max aka Jasper's Update 5-10-2010
I just wanted to give you an update on Max, renamed Jasper, who we adopted from LDCR on April 25. He is doing fabulous! We all
love him so much! He's a sweetheart cat, he's very patient with our two year old daughter, and he loves to get love!
His favorite activities are chasing a laser light toy, playing with a feather toy, and cuddling and sleeping on my head (haha!).
He also loves to look at the birds outside of our sliding glass door in the morning, and he lays in our bathtub. My husband, who
has never owned a cat before, has taken to giving him all sorts of pet names and loves him to death!
Anyway, we just wanted to thank you for giving us the opportunity to bring him into our home, because we absolutely adore him,
and can't imagine our home without him now.
I've attached some pictures of him around the house for you.
Thanks again,
|
Liddy's Update 5-10-2010
Dear Lost Dog,
Tomorrow we're celebrating the 5th birthday of Liddy, who we adopted when she was just four months old. Just letting you know
that she's doing great and is very loved (and spoiled). She always makes us smile and laugh, but is also a wonderful comfort when
she needs to be. To sum up, she just makes life so much more enjoyable. :)
Thanks for all that you do & rest assured that Liddy is thriving (and then some)!

Dewey aka Ike's Update 5-10-2010
Dear LD&CRF, Happy Tails:
Six years ago I took our 11-year old black lab, Bob, down to Petsmart in Falls Church so that he could see if he could find a
buddy to hang with. The only rule I gave him was that it couldn't be a puppy, but I didn't care about the gender, breed, size as
long as he was happy. We wandered around and he sniffed all the dogs, got very excited when he saw 5 little lab pups, but I
reminded him "no puppies" and then he saw DEWEY. Dewey was this wonderful hound looking dog and Bob ran over, kissed his head
and sat down next to him. Dewey looked at him, kissed him, and I figured that Bob had made a choice. We found out that Dewey
was named with his two brothers, Huey and Luey, who were all found in a dumpster and had already been adopted. We renamed him
Ike after a few days because he always poses very much (we thought) like Ike Eisenhower! Ike and Bob were the most faithful
buddies for the last 11+ years. Bob passed away a few months ago at almost 18 years of age, and now that spring is here and Ike
has figured out things without him, we plan on going back to Petsmart and our friends at LD&CRF to let Ike pick out his new buddy!
|
Ike aka Bean's Update 5-10-2010
We adopted Ike (formerly known as “Bean”) back in August 2009. He was rescued from a high-kill shelter in Tennessee. Little
was known about Ike at the time. It has been nearly 9 months since we adopted him and we could not have adopted a better dog!
While a little unsure of his new surroundings at first, Ike now shows his unconditional love for us –hugs and kisses when we walk
through the door and the proffered toy for us to play with him. He has truly been an amazing dog! He is well-trained (not one
mistake in the house!) and listens when called upon. Ike loves his rubber balls and tug-of-war. He enjoys his weekend walks up
to Starbucks. He takes particular interest in young children and loves to play with them in a gentle and sweet manner. The
neighborhood knows him well and he is slowly getting to know the other dogs.
Thanks to Lost Dog Rescue for giving us the chance to adopt Ike and to make a happy home for him. He is such a welcomed
member to the family. We could not have asked for such a joy. We look forward to spending many more years with our boy Ike.

Chance aka Baker's Update 4-24-2010
Hi,
We adopted Chance now known as Baker on April 10th at the Fair Lakes Petsmart. We wanted to find a mate for a stray cat,
now known as Booker, that found us on April 2, 2010. We were really just window shopping when Baker gave us that "look" that
said I am the one for you guys. He was very gentle and very affectionate from the moment we met him. Baker came home with us
that day and settled into our home as if he had been here for years. He is without a doubt on of the nicest animals we have met.
Baker and Booker are in the process of getting to know each other but we expect they will soon be best buddies. We look forward
to many happy years with these two boys. All of us appreciate the dedication the folks at Lost Dog and Cat Rescue to saving these
wonderful companions. Thank you all so much.

Harriet & Sally's Update 4-24-2010
Dear Lost Dog and Cat Rescue –
I wanted to write and give you an update on the kittens I recently adopted, Harriet and Sally. They have been a wonderful
addition to my household and I am so happy to have them as a part of my family. Both, Harriett and Sally have special health
needs and despite needing a little extra TLC I wouldn’t have adopted any other kittens. Sally is blind and HIV positive and
Harriet only has 40% vision and both have wobbly kitten syndrome.
I have had them a little over a month and they have adapted very well to their new home. They spend a lot of time
investigating, playing and then at night snuggling on the sofa while we watch TV. Harriet has a thing for water and loves to
swish it out of her dish and Sally spends most of her time memorizing the layout of the house. She would make an excellent
detective. Watching them grow and learn has been such a reward and I would encourage others adopters to consider adopting
animals with special needs.
I have attached some recent photos too. Thanks again for everything you do to help lost animals find their forever homes.

Toby's Update 4-24-2010
Every day our family comments on what a PERFECT dog our Toby is! We know
that he waited for us to rescue him, because he couldn't be more perfect for
our family. He has been to our local vet twice(where my daughter works) and
if we're not careful, they will steal him! They also LOVE him and can't
believe how lucky we are. We know that Toby was meant for us for many
reasons, but on his first night home, our daughter's ferret had a severe
seizure and had to be put down the following morning. Our Toby was waiting
to comfort her when she returned from the animal hospital and curled up on
her lap while she slept. He was such a great comfort to her.
He is working
on house training :) and plays with his soft Frisbee, large ball (bigger
than him) and the dog across the street. We even took him on Spring Break
with us and he was a CHAMP in the hotel rooms! He loved running on Myrtle
Beach with the kids and riding in the car. We still have him in his house
(crate) at night, but we are hoping that by summer he can sleep on our son's
bed at night. I don't know who wants that more, Toby or Eric!
Thank you and Lost Dog and Cat Rescue for our Toby. If I haven't said it
before, he is PERFECT and we love him, love him, love him. I know that
sounds over board, but this is sincerely how we feel about our newest family
member. Attached are some photos.

Humphrey aka Scott's Update 4-24-2010
Hi there! We have been meaning to send an update for a while on our lovely striped hound that we adopted in November 09 from Lost
Dog!
Humphrey (was Scott from the striped puppies litter) is doing wonderfully and settled right at home with his older "sister",
our 1 year old Plott Hound/Lab mix Mocha that was already a part of our household! (In the picture of the two dogs, Humphrey is
on the Right!) The two are inseperable! Humphrey the hound enjoys running around the woods with us, and taking some swims in the
Chesapeake Bay when he can! He is so gentle and provides us with endless cuddles and kisses! When we adopted him in November,
he was a little 4 month old puppy and he has now grown into quite the smart 8 month old dog!
He is very good at fetch, and is
the apple of everyone's eye he meets! His ears draw crowds and his brindle coat gets more than one "where did you get him"
question! We are so thankful for our little addition to the house...and he has brought endless laughs and smiles to everyone
he meets! When it snowed all that snow this winter, Humphrey could not get enough of it! He would dig burrows like a groundhog
and run in circles in his caves until he just about passed out from being so tired! He is very loved and we are so happy to
have provided him with a new home! Thanks!

Molly's Update 4-24-2010
I would like to share a nice Easter weekend miracle with you all. Jinx and Molly are now friends!!! I came home Friday to find
that my in-laws had opened a window and let Molly run around on her own. Jinx joined her in the window and they have been friendly
since. They like to hunt around for each other and give little playful taps. It's crazy how one night Jinx is hissing and
growling and a couple nights later they're fine with each other.
One problem we are having is Molly LOVES Jinx's adult food.
We're going to need to find a remedy for that. But as we speak, Molly and Jinx are sitting next to each other watching birds.
I am attaching a couple photos and will have an album up shortly. Thanks again for all your help and patience. It's looking
good now. :-)

Leela aka Darlene's Update 4-24-2010
I saw her with her litter mates Cory and Chloe and something just clicked about her. I picked her up and could not set her down.
She is incredibly carefree, affectionate, intelligent and agile. It won't be long if you sit down that she springs up on your
shoulder without touching you with her claws and jabbers with you. She is an angel sent - thankyou!

Mack Truck's Update 4-3-2010
I adopted Mack Truck on February 27th, 2010. As soon as I saw him on the LDCRF website I knew he was the one. It took me
almost a month to actually meet him with all the snow getting in the way, but when I first saw him my feelings were confirmed;
the perfect dog! As soon as I brought Mack Truck home, he knew right away that the over-sized dog bed on the floor was his.
Still, he was a little unsure if he was staying, but his confusion faded within a few days and he settled comfortably into
his new routine. Mack Tuck is a very calm dog. He loves to spread out across the living room floor or in the middle of the
sidewalk when we’re sitting outside at a park bench. It’s funny because it’s like he’s saying “I’m big and this is my
space” - and at 100lbs he needs it!
He also likes to lie out on the balcony soaking up sun and watching the kids play
in the courtyard of my building complex. Although calm, he loves to run around when I can let him off his leash in the
enclosed dog area I have available. We chase each other around and play fetch; though usually after 4 throws he picks up
the ball and will go sit down with it in a corner, as if to say “okay that’s enough”. I couldn’t be happier with Mack Truck.
He is exactly the dog I have been looking for. A couple of my friends told me that he “won the doggie lottery” when I adopted
him, but I really think that we both won! Thank you again LDCRF!

Jeremy aka Franklin's Update 4-3-2010
Hi Lost Dog folks,
Just wanted to give you an update on a basset(maybe beagle?)/shepherd mix we adopted on 3/6/10 named Jeremy (now re-named
Franklin). We weren't even planning to adopt a dog that day, but Franklin had such a wonderful personality that we couldn't
leave without him. And he was completely worth it! Lost Dog had only had him a week after bringing him from a kill shelter
in rural Georgia, so no one was even sure if he was housebroken or not. Well, it turns out he is housebroken and he even has
great indoor manners -- he only chews on his toys, he rarely barks, and he's polite when people come to the door. He loves
to sleep all sprawled out with his face pressed into the floor. His only real issue is separation anxiety -- he's such a
social dog that he hates being left without a buddy. We're working with a trainer to help us with that, as well as just
basic obedience.
In the meantime, he's the new darling of our apartment complex and the dog park, since he makes a point
of greeting everyone and will get right down and play-wrestle with dogs twice his size. We're planning a lot of weekend
trips with him to parks and beaches this spring, to give him lots of new experiences and exercise (us too!). He's more
than what we hoped for in a dog, and we're so grateful to Lost Dog for saving such a wonderful little guy so he could
have a second chance. He will be a very cherished family dog for the rest of his life!

Chirro aka Miley's Update 4-3-2010
Attached is a picture of our little Chihuahua mix, Chirro renamed, Miley since her older sister is Hannah. Miley was found wondering the side of the road with two little pups in Stafford , all suffering from a severe case of manage and malnutrition. When we adopted her a year ago last November, at just over 7 pounds, she had no hair on her ears, belly, legs and tail. Today she is fully recovered and weights in at 10 pounds, no one can resist her little face so getting lots
of treats is easy. She loves to play tug of war, get her belly rubbed and sleep under the covers on cold nights. Since we adopted her she has been running on the sandy beaches of NC and FL, exploring the plains of TX, climbing the mountains of CO, sitting in the shade in the deserts of AZ and NV aboard HER motor coach. She loves being the “big dog” going down the road.
Now that we are back in VA, Miley’s gentle spirit has won the heart of her elderly grandmother, who just loves holding her like a little baby. Her calm gentle “service dog” qualities around people make her a great ambassador for her breed. She brings a smile to everyone who meets her. Our lives would be so empty without her and her sister Hannah. Thank you so much for all you do and giving us the opportunity to have this great little girl in our life.

Desiree aka Spice's Update 4-3-2010
Just wanted to let you know the Desiree (now knows as Spice) has adjusted very well to here new home and we’re very happy to have her. She is a total affection glutton which we’re happy to give. We took her to our vet this week and she got a clean bill of heath and her booster shot. There was a little hissing and growling by Sparks our black amle ont he first day but she just ignored him. Now they seem to be great pals and play and romp together. He seems twice her size but she doesn't back down in the tussle play.
Overall she seems a very sturdy little kitty and she’s also quite gorgeous with her markings. I’ve attached a current photo of her and one
of Sparks also.
